Embrace Resistance: In "The War of Art," Pressfield introduces the concept of "Resistance" as the force that prevents us from doing our creative work. Recognizing and acknowledging this resistance is the first step towards overcoming artist's block. Embrace the challenge, understand that it's a natural part of the creative process, and push through it by continuing to work on your art despite the difficulty.
One of my resitances is id playing out scenerios in my head too long! I had to playing out the present moment mroe so. So when I start thinking I turn those thoughts into, Ok so what should I do now to make the story go the way I need it to! I use those thoughts a trigger to get active. Theres many wasy to deal with resistance but the first step is recognizing the resistance!!!
Establish a Routine: Setting a consistent creative routine can help establish a creative habit and make it easier to overcome artist's block. Commit to a specific time or place for your creative work, even if you don't feel inspired. Sometimes, just sitting down and starting the work can trigger the flow of creativity.
My morning routiine helped me tremendously. I used to be a night owl but I much prefer my mornings. Good rest and, vibrant mornings allow me to get to work easily on most mornings!!
Explore Different Mediums: Sometimes, switching to a different creative medium can help break through a creative block. If you're stuck with your current artistic medium (e.g., painting), try experimenting with something new (e.g., writing, sculpting, photography). Exploring other art forms can spark inspiration and creativity, allowing you to return to your primary medium with a fresh perspective.
Me exploring with digital art definitley opened my mind up to more ideas and product development keeps me excited! A great way to stay sharp with ideas is exploring the different mediums!!
